I love my Blackberry. I’ve had one for just fewer than nine months. I use it for all aspects of my life; not limited to the obvious contact, calendar, address book, and off course telephone. I keep my journals, class notes, assignments, e-books, and even grocery lists in there. I think of the little device as my life aggregator.
What I also love about my Blackberry is that I have all my communication mediums come to it. With instant messaging, facebook, email, twitter, phone calls, and texting I found myself spending half my day tracking who’s getting in touch with me. I would have to log in here, post there, respond to that; it was exhausting. The beauty of an all in one phone is that now I have little applications that automatically update me when a new message comes in. Most of the time I don’t even worry by which method someone is trying to get in contact with me.
One of my best friends doesn’t have a cellphone and argues that I’m letting people reach me to easily. He seems to think that turning off my phone when I don’t want to be disturbed isn’t an option. I leave my cellphone behind all the time. When I jog, go to the beach, hang out with my girlfriend; nothing, I am in “do not disturb” mode. However, when I do need to be in touch I like having the option to be able to do it anywhere without having to sit in front of a computer screen.
